Scholarship Appeals

If you are an incoming freshmen or transfer student and you have questions about automatic scholarships that are awarded during the Admissions process, then we encourage you to reach out to your Admissions representative.

Continuing Mizzou Students

Mizzou Student Financial Aid accepts scholarship appeals from continuing students who did not meet the renewal requirements for their automatic and/or competitive scholarships. At the end of each spring semester, students are reviewed for the required renewal criteria, including minimum cumulative GPA, continuous enrollment in the fall and spring semesters, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Students who do not meet the renewal requirements may only have their scholarship reinstated through an approved appeal.

As part of the appeal process, students must explain any extenuating circumstances that negatively affected their ability to meet the renewal requirements and describe the steps they are taking to improve their academic outcomes.

Students who are not meeting SAP requirements must submit a SAP financial aid appeal. To be considered for scholarship reinstatement, students must either meet overall SAP standards or be placed on financial aid probation.

Reminder: Automatic and competitive scholarships do not apply to summer terms. Appeals to use an automatic scholarship during a summer term will only be considered if the summer term is the student’s final term required for graduation and circumstances beyond the student’s control prevented completion during the standard fall and spring semesters.
