Scholarship Appeals

If you are an incoming freshmen or transfer student and you have questions about automatic scholarships that are awarded during the Admissions process, then we encourage you to reach out to your Admissions representative.

Continuing Mizzou Students

Student Financial Aid will accept scholarship appeals from continuing students who did not meet renewal criteria for their automatic scholarships if there are exceptional circumstances beyond the student’s control that prevented the requirements to be met.

If you fail to meet the minimum renewal criteria of total hours completed for the academic term and/or cumulative GPA at the end of the Spring semester, your automatic scholarship can only be reinstated if an appeal is submitted and approved.

Reminder: automatic scholarships do not apply for the summer term, and a student may only appeal to use the scholarship in a summer term if it is their last term required to graduate and there are circumstances beyond the student’s control to complete during the standard fall and spring terms.

Students who are not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) will need to submit a SAP appeal prior to appealing for any renewal of their automatic scholarship. You must be meeting overall SAP standards or be placed on financial aid probation in order to appeal for reinstatement of your automatic scholarship.

Continuing students who are wanting to appeal would need to complete the Scholarship Appeal Form (found on our forms page) with narrative and upload it through the secure document uploader. No appeals will be reviewed after September 1.
