MU Grant

This institutionally funded, need-based grant is awarded to undergraduate students showing significant financial need. To be considered for this grant, students must meet the Mizzou priority deadline for filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To be eligible, students must be an undergraduate student working toward their first bachelor’s degree and be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress. On a case-by-case basis, you may be asked to provide additional documentation from your parent(s) or other individuals not listed on the FAFSA to help us determine your eligibility for the MU Grant.

For students entering prior to the Fall 2020 term, award amounts range from $100 to $5,000 and are based on need and hours enrolled. If the student takes fewer credit hours than required for full-time enrollment, the award will be reduced prior to any disbursements. Please contact the Student Financial Aid office for additional information regarding award adjustments.

For students entering the Fall 2020 term and after, award amounts will vary to meet a percentage of a student’s need taking multiple factors into consideration, such as a student’s enrollment, other financial aid received, Expected Family Contribution (EFC), and standardized test score for incoming freshmen or transfer GPA for incoming transfers.

MU also offers merit-based and need-based scholarships.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MU Grant is a commitment to help alleviate unmet need from Mizzou through a variety of financial resources a student receives, including institutional awards. If students receive additional financial resources after the MU Grant is awarded, the unmet need will be covered, but the amount of the MU Grant may be adjusted.

Typically, outside scholarships do not affect a student’s MU Grant. However, financial aid packages cannot exceed the estimated cost of attendance.
